Background of the Study
Pragmatic efficiency in business communication is crucial for effective decision-making and operational success. In Nigerian corporate settings, meetings serve as key platforms for information exchange, strategic discussions, and conflict resolution. This study investigates the pragmatic strategies employed during corporate meetings to facilitate clear and efficient communication. Nigerian businesses, operating in a competitive and rapidly evolving environment, rely on pragmatic cues—such as tone modulation, contextual markers, and interactive turn-taking—to achieve communication efficiency (Adebayo, 2023). Meetings often blend formal language with informal interactions, necessitating the strategic adaptation of linguistic practices to suit diverse participants. Through analysis of meeting transcripts and audio recordings, this research will identify pragmatic markers that either enhance or impede message clarity. The study aims to reveal how these markers contribute to effective discourse management and decision-making, providing insights that can inform corporate training programs and communication policies. Statement of the Problem
